We are a family owned and operated business that has been open since 1961.

History of Skateland Arena
Kay and Willard McCombs and their son Dan broke ground in 1956 for Skateland Arena. Five long years later, on October 6 of 1961, Skateland opened it's doors for business, welcoming skaters for the first time.

When Skateland Arena first opened, the building was very different from how is it today. The office served as a ticket window, skate sales, coat check, and sound booth. The office is now moved to the corner and a larger lobby with glass doors now welcomes customers. We are now the largest skate supplier in the area, selling quad, speed, hockey, and jam skates; in addition to inline hockey and quad skate equipment, wheels, and other skating supplies.

The original snack room used to be where the Tunnels N' Tubes playcenter is now. A new addition was added and the snack room was moved to it's current location in the 70's. Even after this move, the snack room still needed more room another new addition was added. In 1999, a large birthday party area was added. We also realized the need for modern bathrooms, which are now more than double their original size. In 2008, The snack bar received an expansion that added a large preparation area and added room for food equipment.

Kay and Willard's son Dan, and his wife Peggy bought Skateland in 1972. They added the sound booth and started playing modern music. Before this time, an organ in the office played music that the guests skated to. They also added games and a mini rink for the small children, where moms would walk their children and help them learn how to skate. Unfortunately, we needed the room for arcade games and a pool table, so the mini rink became a thing of the past. We are confident though, that these changes were for the best. By the way...some of you might remember Dan and Peggy from the days of the Jerry Lewis 24 hour skates that we used to hold.

In 1988, Dianne and Danny (Peggy and Dan's children) took over the daily operation of the arena. During this time, speed skate and inline rentals were introduced; the sound booth was upgraded and moved; and many light effects were added. In 1999, a new addition was added to the back of the snack room, which then became the new arcade, with games that gave out tickets. A prize counter to redeem tickets for prizes was quickly added, which is a very popular area for kids! Laser Storm was moved from next door to the new addition and the Tunnels N' Tubes playcenter was added. To give skateland a fresh look, the entrance was moved and enlarged, and a canopy was added.

Roller Hockey has become a large part of our business...so large that a new hockey facility was built behind skateland. Join a league today - boys and girls, men and women are welcome!

In closing, we would like to thank each and every one of you for helping us to enjoy over 47 years of business. We look forward to serving you for many years to come.

Thank you,

The McComb's Family
